Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment is offered in a wide range of different treatment settings with a variety of different treatment approaches. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be performed on an outpatient basis, where the individual will typically participate in treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the individual to stay in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is particularly helpful in resolving more severe cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on different circumstances which can be different for each person. Most substance abuse treatment will focus on getting the person physically rehabilitated, and then focus on underlying psychological and emotional issues which will help them avoid relapse in the future.

Alternative Housing - Transitional Living

A halfway house is a transitional living facility where a person who is recovering from alcohol or drug addiction can stabilize and re-acclimate to life and society as a drug free individual. A halfway house is a location where someone can feel secure and rebuild their life while maintaining sobriety while also take part in activities which will help them do just that. Halfway houses supply an ideal opportunity for individuals to be in an atmosphere where they can acquire further counseling and different types of therapy while also learning new trades or discovering stable employment so that they can support a healthy and drug free lifestyle.

Residential Long-Term Treatment that is 30 days or longer

Enrolling into a residential long-term treatment facility (more than 30 days) is an effective way ofapproaching a severe drug or alcohol addiction problem. This type of drug treatment program is more intensive than others that only last a few weeks or those where the person in recovery is free to come and go as they please. Attending a residential long-term rehabilitation program (more than 30 days) means that you as the client will stay at the rehab facility around the clock while you are in recovery. While offering a more relaxed home-like environment the client has access to treatment professionals at all times. Long term drug rehab facilities are a perfect choice for those who have a long history of addiction or who have had other unsuccessful attempts at drug or alcohol treatment in the past.

Women Only

Recovery from drug or alcohol addiction is a process that can be difficult and in a lot ofways intimidating. This is why some women seeking help with addiction feel more comfortable in treatment facilities created specifically for women. Women who are addicted to drugs or alcohol typicallyhave personal issues that are much different than their male counter parts. In a drug or alcohol rehab center where all the clients are women, the recovering addict will feel more at ease and will be able to share her personal conflicts that led to her drug abuse and addiction problems. Statistics show that up to seventy percent of drug abusing women report having some type of sexual or physical abuse in their past. These delicate issues are easier to address in the company of other women without fear of judgment or retaliation.

Men Only

Drug rehab programs designed specifically for men are rising up across the country. While programs that treat both men and women continue to be the standard for drug and alcohol rehabilitation, many rehab facilities are providing programs designed to help a particular target group. These centers are able to focus on what their client's personal needs are in a way that standard facilities cannot provide. While these specialized types of treatment programs are not needed for all recovering addicts, many men are choosing men-only drug and alcohol treatment programs. This recovery option is best suited for those who feel more comfortable with those of the same sex when discussing private and often difficult issues from the past. Addiction recovery is a challenging process for every addict and finding comfort among one's peer group is a very good way of receiving the support needed to make the process that much more bearable and successful.

Criminal Justice Client Programs

Criminal justice clients often need substance abuse treatment due to problems with drug and alcohol abuse. Due to the nature of the criminal justice system, there are distinct steps and guidelines that must be performed in order to be admitted into a criminal justice substance abuse treatment facility or recovery program. The first step is to establish the criminal justice clients eligibility. This step is accomplished by a panel of officials who determine how much and what type of drug is necessary. Often, the criminal justice clients receive their drug and alcohol rehabilitation while they are incarcerated. For optimum results, they are encouraged, if not strictly directed, to continue their recovery once they leave jail and enroll in sober living or a long-term residential transitional living program.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many substance abuse treatment programs in the United States offer payment assistance to people having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of treatment can select a treatment facility which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program would supply them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehab center to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehab centers are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will often work with the individual to find an equivalent or similar treatment program which is more affordable or that can provide workable financing options so that they can acquire the help they so desperately need.
