Hospital Inpatient Programs

Hospital inpatient drug treatment is performed in a hospital setting and is overseen by doctors and other medical staff. Hospital inpatient treatment is often necessary in the beginning stages of abstinence when the client may encounter the onset of medically dangerous withdrawal symptoms, which is sometimes the case when quitting alcohol as well as a category of prescription drugs known as benzodiazepines which should be supervised very carefully by medical professionals in case of any complications. Hospital inpatient treatment is also delivered to those who choose to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, as is the case with opiate addicted individuals who wish to use this type of detoxification technique to avoid the severe withdrawal symptoms associated with heroin or other opiate withdrawal. This type of opiate detox is not treatment in itself however, and these people will require further counseling and therapy to completely recover from addiction.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must address both issues in order to recover completely. Some people take drugs to ease symptoms of mental health problems, and some people take drugs which then, in turn, causes symptoms which are identical to mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety. Drug rehabilitation professionals know how to differentiate between the two, and can work with clients to properly treat real mental health problems in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the person. This has proven to be effective in keeping people with mental health problems off of drugs and mentally stable and happy.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehab programs are an outstanding alternative to other types of rehab centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their substance abuse rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a substance abuse rehabilitation program and inquire as to their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several programs so that you have a comparison of your choices regarding treatment options and payment options.

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other circumstances such as whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehab, and there are a lot of drug rehabilitation facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug rehab programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only provide such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should explore which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full benefits of such a program.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug rehab can be a problem, because typically all resources have been exhausted due to their drug habit. Many drug rehab facilities understand this reality which is why many drug rehabilitation facilities around the country provide payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are various factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol rehab programs would prefer to find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can get the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug and alcohol treatment centers in the United States offer payment assistance to men and women having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of treatment can select a rehab program which is a good fit, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program will offer them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol treatment center to find out what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol treatment centers are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the individual to find an equivalent or similar rehabilitation program which is more affordable or that can provide workable financing options so that they can acquire the help they so desperately need.
