Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol treatment programs which are provided on an outpatient basis are available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient treatment facility. An outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehab facility where the person is expected to remain at the rehab center until treatment is complete. Outpatient drug or alcohol treatment is also available for those who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare and relapse prevention program which will offer additional support and therapy to help them remain clean and sober.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are a great alternative to other types of rehabilitation centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. People who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire treatment process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug rehab program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, contact a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center and inquire as to their payment options. It is a good idea to contact a number of facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding treatment options and payment options.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is made available to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other factors including whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug rehab, and there are many drug and alcohol rehab centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Many drug rehab facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only deliver such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should research which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.

State Financed Insurance besides Medicaid

Some people are covered through state financed insurance because they do not meet the eligibility requirements for Medicaid. Some states however offer affordable health insurance to those who cannot afford private health insurance plans. State financed health insurance programs will in some cases cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a variety of drug treatment centers around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both outpatient or inpatient substance abuse treatment services. To find out which treatment facilities will accept state financed insurance, consult a drug and alcohol treatment specialist.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is looking for help, there are many effective drug rehabilitation programs accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more beneficial substance abuse rehab centers which require an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These treatment programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those individuals who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug or alcohol treatment program. For more information, consult with an addiction specialist at a substance abuse rehab facility in your area to find out which programs your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol rehabilitation can be a challenge, as all resources have been exhausted due to the persons drug habit. Many drug treatment programs understand this fact which is why many drug and alcohol rehab facilities across the nation provide payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are many factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug rehab programs in the United States offer payment assistance to people having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of rehabilitation can select a treatment facility which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program would offer them the best results. The addicted person can then consult with one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehab program to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the person to find an equivalent or similar rehabilitation program which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can get the help they so desperately need.
