Outpatient Treatment

Drug rehabilitation services which are provided on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehab center. An outpatient substance abuse treatment program provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol rehab facility where the person is expected to stay and reside at the treatment program until the treatment process is complete. Outpatient drug or alcohol treatment is also offered for those who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare program which will provide further support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehab facilities are an excellent alternative to other types of rehab facilities i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. People who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their substance abuse treatment program. To learn more about self payment at a specific program, contact a substance abuse rehabilitation facility and inquire as to their payment options. It is a good idea to contact a number of facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding treatment options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other factors including whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug treatment, and there are a lot of drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Many drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should explore which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.

State Financed Insurance besides Medicaid

Some individuals are covered through state financed insurance because they fail to meet the eligibility requirements for Medicaid. Some states however offer state financed health insurance to those individuals who cannot afford private health insurance plans. State financed health insurance programs will sometimes cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a wide variety of drug rehabilitation centers around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both inpatient or outpatient substance abuse rehab providers. To find out which treatment facilities will accept state financed insurance, consult a drug and alcohol treatment specialist.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

If an individual is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is looking for help, there are many effective drug rehabilitation programs accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term rehab facilities accept private health insurance, far more effective drug treatment centers which offer an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These treatment programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those clients who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug rehab program. For more information, consult with a treatment professional at a substance abuse treatment center in your area to see which programs your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug rehab can be a problem, because typically all resources have been exhausted because of the persons drug habit. Many drug rehab programs recognize this fact which is why many drug and alcohol rehab facilities across the nation offer payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are many factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug rehabilitation facilities would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those suffering with addiction can get the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug rehabilitation centers in the United States provide payment assistance to individuals suffering with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of treatment can choose a rehab program which is a good fit, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program will supply them the best results. The addicted person can then consult with one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehab center to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will typically work with the individual to find an equivalent or similar rehabilitation facility which is more affordable or that can provide workable financing options so that they can acquire the help they so desperately need.
