Outpatient Treatment

Drug rehab services which are provided on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehab center. An outpatient drug and alcohol rehab program provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehabilitation center where the individual is expected to remain at the treatment program until treatment is complete. Outpatient drug treatment is also offered for those who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but require a comprehensive aftercare program which will provide additional support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must handle both issues if there is any hope for them to recover completely. Some people take drugs to alleviate symptoms of mental health problems, and some individuals take drugs which then, in turn, causes symptoms which are identical to mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety. Addiction treatment professionals know how to distinguish between the two, and can work with clients to properly treat real mental health problems in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the individual. This has proven to be effective in keeping people with mental health disorders off of drugs and alcohol and mentally stable and healthy.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are a great alternative to other types of rehabilitation facilities i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire treatment process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug rehab program. In order to learn more about self payment programs, contact a drug or alcohol rehab program and ask about their payment options. It is beneficial to contact a number of facilities so that you have a comparison of your choices regarding rehab options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other factors including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol treatment, and there are many drug rehab programs throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug rehabilitation programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only provide such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should research which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full rewards of such a program.

State Financed Insurance besides Medicaid

Some people are covered through state financed insurance because they fail to meet the eligibility requirements for Medicaid. Some states however offer state financed health insurance to those who cannot afford private health insurance plans. State financed health insurance programs will sometimes cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a variety of drug rehab facilities around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both outpatient or inpatient drug rehabilitation services. To find out which rehab facilities will accept state financed insurance, speak with a drug treatment advisor.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is seeking help, there are many effective substance abuse treatment facilities accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more effective substance abuse rehab facilities which require an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These treatment programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those people who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug or alcohol treatment program. Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol rehab can be a problem, because typically all resources have been exhausted because of the persons addiction. Many drug rehab facilities recognize this reality which is why many drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities across the nation offer payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are many factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol treatment programs would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can get the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many substance abuse treatment centers in the United States offer payment assistance to men and women having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of rehabilitation can select a rehabilitation facility which is a good fit, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program will offer them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol treatment center to discuss what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug rehab programs are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the person to locate an equivalent or similar treatment facility which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can get the help they so desperately need.
