Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol treatment programs which are offered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient rehabilitation facility. An outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehabilitation facility where the individual is expected to remain at the rehab program until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug or alcohol rehab is also offered for those who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare program which will provide further support and therapy to help them remain clean and sober.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol treatment programs are an outstanding alternative to other types of treatment programs i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. People who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire treatment process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug rehab program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a substance abuse treatment center and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding treatment options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other factors such as whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug rehab, and there are a lot of drug rehab facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug treatment programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should explore which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When somebody is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is looking for help, many effective drug or alcohol treatment programs accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more effective drug rehab programs which provide an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These rehab facilities which accept private health insurance can differ in terms of treatment curriculum, but those clients who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to attending a drug rehabilitation program. For more information, speak with with an addiction specialist at a drug treatment center in your area to find out which programs your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol rehabilitation can be a problem, because typically all resources have been exhausted because of the persons drug habit. Many drug rehab facilities understand this reality which is why many drug and alcohol rehab facilities around the country offer payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are various factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug rehab facilities would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug and alcohol treatment programs in the United States offer payment assistance to people struggling with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of treatment can choose a rehabilitation facility which is a good fit, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program will offer them the best results. The addicted individual can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol treatment facility to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug rehab programs are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will often work with the individual to locate an equivalent or comparable rehabilitation program which is more affordable or that can provide workable financing options so that they can get the help they so desperately need.
