Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol treatment programs which are offered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient rehabilitation facility. An outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehabilitation facility where the individual is expected to remain at the rehab program until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug or alcohol rehab is also offered for those who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare program which will provide further support and therapy to help them remain clean and sober.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of recovery program which works to treat substance abuse issues and mental health issues which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the individual in treatment takes part in various treatment activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This is done anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the severity of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be beneficial for addicted individuals who cannot afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for extended periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients participate in standard counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health troubles which could prevent them from staying sober once treatment is complete.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must handle both issues in order to recover completely. Some individuals take drugs or alcohol to ease symptoms of mental health disorders, and some individuals take drugs which then, in turn, causes symptoms which mimic mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. Drug treatment professionals know how to differentiate between the two, and can work with clients to properly treat real mental health disorders in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the individual. This has proven to be effective in keeping people with mental health problems off of drugs and mentally stable and happy.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug treatment programs are a great alternative to other types of rehab centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. Individuals who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire rehabilitation process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a drug rehab facility and inquire as to their payment options. It is beneficial to contact several programs so that you have an understanding of your choices with regards to rehab options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is made available to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other circumstances including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug rehab, and there are a lot of drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug and alcohol rehab programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should explore which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full rewards of a Medicaid rehab program.

Medicare Coverage

Drug addiction and alcoholism affects many older Americans and seniors, and this problem continues to grow as each year passes. Seniors who are covered by Medicare, an insurance plan funded through the federal government for Americans in this age bracket, can use their Medicare benefits to receive treatment services for drug or alcohol addiction at a wide variety of drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers around the country. Medicare covers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and seniors who wish to receive help can consult with their primary care physician to choose a treatment program covered by Medicare which would fit his or her particular needs.

State Financed Insurance besides Medicaid

Some individuals are covered through state financed insurance because they fail to meet the eligibility requirements for Medicaid. Some states however offer affordable health insurance to those who cannot afford private health insurance. State financed health insurance programs will in some cases cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a variety of drug rehabilitation facilities around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both inpatient or outpatient drug treatment providers. To find out which rehab facilities will accept state financed insurance, speak with a substance abuse treatment specialist.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When an individual is abusing drugs or alcohol and is seeking help, there are many effective drug treatment facilities accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more effective substance abuse rehab programs which require an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those people who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to attending a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. For additional information, consult with a treatment professional at a substance abuse treatment program in your area to find out which services your private health insurance will cover.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug and alcohol treatment centers in the United States offer payment assistance to men and women struggling with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of rehabilitation can select a rehabilitation program which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program would supply them the best results. The addicted individual can then seek advice from one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol treatment center to talk about what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehab programs are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will typically work with the person to find an equivalent or similar treatment program which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can acquire the help they so desperately need.
