Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment is offered in a wide range of different treatment settings with a variety of different treatment methods. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be performed on an outpatient basis, where the individual will typically participate in treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the person to reside in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is particularly helpful in resolving more serious cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on different circumstances which can be different for each individual. Most substance abuse treatment will focus on getting the person physically rehabilitated, and then concentrate on the root psychological and emotional issues which will help them avoid relapse in the future.

Alternative Housing - Transitional Living

A halfway house is a transitional living facility where a person who is recovering from drug or alcohol addiction can find support and re-adjust to life and society as a drug free individual. A halfway house is a location where someone can feel safe and repair their life while maintaining sobriety while also participate in activities which will help them do just that. Halfway houses are the perfect opportunity for individuals to be in an environment where they can acquire additional counseling and different types of therapy while also learning new trades or obtaining stable employment so that they can support a healthy and productive, drug-free life.

Residential Long-Term Treatment that is 30 days or longer

Attending a residential long-term treatment facility (more than 30 days) is the best way ofaddressing a severe substance abuse problem. This type of substance abuse treatment facility is more intensive than others that only last a few weeks or those where the client is free to come and go as they please. Attending a residential long-term rehab program (more than 30 days) means that you as the client will reside at the rehabilitation facility around the clock while you are in recovery. While offering a more relaxed home-like atmosphere the person has access to counselors and staff at all times. Long term drug or alcohol rehabilitation centers are an excellent choice for those who have a long history of substance abuse or who have had other unsuccessful attempts at drug or alcohol treatment in the past.

Men Only

Drug treatment facilities created specifically for men are rising up across the nation. While rehab programs that treat both men and women continue to be the standard for drug and alcohol rehabilitation, many rehab facilities are providing programs designed to help a specific target group. These facilities are able to focus on what their client's particular needs are in a way that standard programs are not. While these specialized types of rehab programs may not be necessary for all recovering addicts, many men are choosing men-only drug treatment facilities. This treatment option is ideally suited for those who feel more comfortable among others of the same sex when discussing private and often difficult memories from the past. Recovering from addiction is a difficult process for every addict and finding comfort among one's peer group is a very good way of getting the support needed to make the process that much more endurable.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug treatment facilities are a great alternative to other types of treatment centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. Individuals who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. To learn more about self payment programs, contact a substance abuse treatment program and inquire as to their payment options. It is beneficial to contact a number of facilities so that you have a comparison of your choices regarding rehab options and payment options.
