Detoxification

Detoxification is typically the 1st step in getting off drugs. It allows an individual to be in a supervised environment while they go through withdrawal symptoms for drugs and/or alcohol. There are diverse types of detoxification. Theyrange from drug-free to medically supervised. A frequent mistake that quite a few addicts make is to believe that detox is sufficient to kick their habit. This is seldom the case. All detox does is get somebody through the withdrawal when they stop using. It is usually recommended that detox be followed up with some type of treatment plan to discover the root of why somebody was using drugs in the first place.

Detox for Methadone

Methadone detoxification is a process which must be supervised by addiction professionals within a drug treatment program who understand how challenging and difficult methadone detox can be. Methadone detox is known to be far more severe in terms of symptoms and duration than even heroin detox, and users often revert back to methadone to relieve withdrawal symptoms or, worse yet, turn to heroin or prescription opioids to alleviate symptoms. This is why methadone detoxification should only be done under close supervision at a drug treatment program which has experience in handling this type of detox, and where the person can receive additional rehabilitation services to address all addiction issues.

Many drug treatment facilities understand this reality which is why many drug rehab programs around the country provide payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are several factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug treatment facilities would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those suffering with addiction can get the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug rehab programs in the United States offer payment assistance to individuals suffering with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of treatment can choose a treatment program which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program will offer them the best results. The addicted individual can then consult with one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol treatment program to discuss what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for.
