Outpatient Treatment

Drug treatment programs which are offered on an outpatient basis are available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient rehab facility. An outpatient drug treatment program offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol treatment program where the person is expected to stay and reside at the treatment center until the treatment process is complete. Outpatient drug or alcohol treatment is also offered for individuals who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare and relapse prevention program which will offer additional support and treatment to help them avoid relapse.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of treatment program which works to treat substance abuse problems and mental health conditions which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment participates in various treatment activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be beneficial for addicted individuals who may not be able to afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for extended periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients participate in standard counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health troubles which could keep them from making progress and obtaining gains throughout the treatment process.

Individuals can become addicted to drugs no matter their handicap, disability or personal physical challenge. Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol treatment programs are an outstanding alternative to other types of rehabilitation centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. People who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their substance abuse rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a drug or alcohol treatment center and ask about their payment options. It is beneficial to contact a number of facilities so that you have a comparison of your choices regarding rehab options and payment options.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other factors such as whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehabilitation, and there are a lot of drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug rehabilitation facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug rehab can be a challenge, as all resources have been exhausted due to the persons addiction. Many drug treatment programs fully grasp this fact which is why many drug rehabilitation programs across the nation provide payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are many variables put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol rehab programs would prefer to find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug rehabilitation facilities in the United States offer payment assistance to men and women having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of rehabilitation can choose a treatment facility which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program will supply them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehab facility to find out what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug rehab facilities are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will often work with the individual to find an equivalent or comparable rehabilitation program which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can acquire the rehabilitation they so desperately need.
