Hospital Inpatient Programs

Hospital inpatient substance abuse treatment is performed in a hospital or similar setting and is overseen by doctors and other medical staff. Hospital inpatient treatment is sometimes necessary in the beginning stages of abstinence when the client may encounter the onset of life threatening withdrawal symptoms, which is sometimes true when quitting alcohol as well as a category of prescription drugs known as benzodiazepines which should be supervised very carefully by medical professionals in case of any complications. Hospital inpatient treatment is also delivered to individuals who choose to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, as is the case with opiate addicted individuals who wish to use this type of detoxification approach to avoid the harsh withdrawal symptoms associated with heroin or other opiate withdrawal. This type of opiate detoxification is not treatment in itself however, and these individuals will need additional counseling and therapy to entirely recover from addiction.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehab programs which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehabilitation program. An outpatient drug rehabilitation center provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehabilitation center where the person is expected to remain at the rehab center until the treatment process has been fully completed. Outpatient drug treatment is also available for individuals who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare and relapse prevention program which will offer further support and treatment to help them remain clean and sober.

Specialized in Hearing Impaired Clients

People can become addicted to drugs or alcohol no matter their handicap, disability or personal physical challenge. This sometimes makes individuals particularly more vulnerable to becoming involved in substance abuse, because of the varying challenges that this can bring about in the person's life. This is true for those people in the deaf and hearing impaired community as well, and treatment for substance abuse and addiction is sometimes needed. Deaf or hearing impaired individuals will require ASL or other assistance as part of their treatment needs, and there are drug and alcohol treatment centers available which provide these services. Professional substance abuse counselors who know ASL and can offer other necessary assistance to deaf or hearing impaired substance abusers.

Other Language Programs

Those who speak other languages, other than English that is, should be able to receive drug or alcohol rehabilitation which is on par with English speakers. Speakers of other languages should not feel that their treatment curriculum or treatment setting is going to be any less effective because they don't speak English. There are quite a few drug rehab facilities available which provide services to those who speak foreign languages, all of which offer a selection of programs to choose from. For example, some drug rehabilitation programs which cater to individuals who speak other languages are only short term programs, and others are longer term programs. Foreign language speakers should seek the advice from a treatment professional in their area to choose a drug or alcohol treatment facility that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment substance abuse treatment facilities are a great alternative to other types of rehab facilities i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire rehabilitation process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug rehab program. To learn more about self payment programs, make contact with a drug rehabilitation facility and inquire as to their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several programs so that you have an understanding of your choices with regards to treatment options and payment options.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is made available to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other circumstances including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehab, and there are a lot of drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug treatment programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only provide such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.
