Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of rehabilitation program which works to treat substance abuse issues and mental health issues which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment takes part in a variety of recovery activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be beneficial for addicted persons who cannot afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients take part in standard counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health issues which could keep them from making progress and obtaining gains throughout the treatment process.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug rehabilitation programs are an outstanding alternative to other types of treatment programs i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. People who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug treatment program. To learn more about self payment programs, make contact with a drug rehab facility and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding rehab options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other factors including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug rehabilitation, and there are a lot of drug treatment facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug rehabilitation programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.

Medicare Coverage

Drug addiction and alcoholism affects many older Americans and seniors, and this issue is projected to only worsen in the coming years. Seniors who are covered through the Medicare program, an insurance plan funded through the federal government for Americans in this age bracket, can use their Medicare benefits to receive vital treatment services for substance abuse at a variety of substance abuse treatment facilities around the country. Medicare covers both inpatient and outpatient rehab facilities, and seniors who are in need of help can consult with their primary care physician to choose a rehab program covered by Medicare which would be suitable for them.

State Financed Insurance besides Medicaid

Some individuals are covered through state financed insurance because they do not meet the eligibility requirements for Medicaid. Some states however offer affordable health insurance to those individuals who cannot afford private health insurance plans. State financed health insurance programs will in some cases cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a wide variety of drug and alcohol rehab facilities around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both inpatient or outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation providers. To find out which treatment programs will accept state financed insurance, consult a substance abuse treatment advisor.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

If a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is seeking help, there are many effective substance abuse treatment facilities accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term rehab facilities accept private health insurance, far more beneficial drug or alcohol rehab programs which provide an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These rehab facilities which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those people who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to attending a drug or alcohol treatment facility. For additional information, consult with an addiction specialist at a drug or alcohol rehabilitation facility in your area to find out which services your private health insurance will cover.
