Hospital Inpatient Programs

Hospital inpatient substance abuse treatment is carried out in a hospital or similar setting and is supervised by doctors and other medical staff. Hospital inpatient treatment is often necessary in the beginning stages of abstinence when the person may encounter the onset of medically dangerous withdrawal symptoms, which is sometimes the case when quitting alcohol as well as a category of prescription drugs known as benzodiazepines which must be supervised very carefully by medical professionals to minimize ant dangerous health complications. Hospital inpatient treatment is also administered to those who choose to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, as is the case with opiate addicted individuals who wish to use this type of detox technique to manage the harsh withdrawal symptoms associated with heroin or other opiate withdrawal. This type of opiate detox is not treatment in itself however, and these individuals will need further counseling and therapy to fully recover from addiction.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol treatment services which are provided on an outpatient basis are available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient rehabilitation program. An outpatient drug treatment facility delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug treatment program where the individual is expected to remain at the rehabilitation facility until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug rehab is also offered for those who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare program which will offer further support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug treatment centers are an outstanding alternative to other types of treatment facilities i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. Individuals who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehabilitation process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their substance abuse rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, contact a drug or alcohol treatment program and inquire as to their payment options. It is beneficial to contact a number of programs so that you have a comparison of your choices with regards to rehab options and payment options.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other factors including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehabilitation, and there are a lot of drug and alcohol rehab programs throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug and alcohol rehab facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only deliver such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full rewards of such a program.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When someone is abusing drugs or alcohol and is looking for help, many effective substance abuse rehab programs accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more beneficial drug treatment programs which require an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These rehab facilities which accept private health insurance can differ in terms of treatment curriculum, but those clients who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to attending a drug rehab facility. For additional information, speak with with a treatment professional at a drug or alcohol rehab center in your area to find out which services your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol treatment can be a problem, because typically all resources have been exhausted because of the persons drug habit. Many drug rehab facilities fully grasp this reality which is why many drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities across the nation offer payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are many variables put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol treatment programs would prefer to find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug rehab facilities in the United States provide payment assistance to people having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of rehabilitation can choose a treatment program which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program would provide them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehab facility to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug rehabilitation centers are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the person to locate an equivalent or comparable rehab program which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can get the rehabilitation they so desperately need.
