Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment takes place in a wide range of different treatment settings with a variety of different treatment approaches. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be carried out on an outpatient basis, where the individual will typically receive treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the individual to stay in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is especially beneficial in resolving more serious cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on various circumstances which can be different for each individual. Most substance abuse treatment will focus on getting the person physically rehabilitated, and then focus on the root psychological and emotional issues which will help them avoid relapse in the future.

Alternative Housing - Transitional Living

A halfway house is a transitional living facility where a person who is recovering from alcohol or drug addiction can find support and re-adjust to life and society. A halfway house is a place where the person can feel secure and rebuild their life while maintaining sobriety while also participate in activities which will help them do just that. Halfway houses supply an ideal opportunity for recovering addicts to be in an atmosphere where they can acquire further counseling and different types of therapy while also learning new trades or discovering stable employment so that they can support a healthy and drug free lifestyle.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug rehabilitation programs which are provided on an outpatient basis are available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehab program. An outpatient drug rehabilitation facility offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol treatment facility where the individual is expected to stay and reside at the rehab program until treatment is complete. Outpatient drug treatment is also available for individuals who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare program which will provide additional support and treatment to help them remain clean and sober.

Residential Long-Term Treatment that is 30 days or longer

Attending a residential long-term treatment facility (more than 30 days) is the best way ofapproaching a severe substance abuse problem. This type of drug rehab facility is more intensive than others that only last a few weeks or those where the person in recovery is free to come and go as they please. Choosing a residential long-term rehab program (more than 30 days) means that you as the client will live at the rehabilitation facility around the clock while you are in recovery. While providing a more relaxed home-like atmosphere the individual has access to counselors and staff at all times. Long term drug treatment centers are an excellent choice for those who have a long history of addiction or who have had other unsuccessful attempts at recovery in the past.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment substance abuse rehab programs are a great alternative to other types of treatment programs i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. Individuals who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire treatment process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment programs, make contact with a drug rehab facility and inquire as to their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several programs so that you have an understanding of your choices with regards to rehab options and payment options.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many substance abuse rehab programs in the United States provide payment assistance to men and women struggling with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of treatment can choose a rehab facility which is a good fit, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program will provide them the best results. The addicted person can then consult with one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol rehabilitation program to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehab facilities are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will often work with the individual to locate an equivalent or similar rehabilitation facility which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can acquire the rehabilitation they so desperately need.
