Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of recovery program which works to treat substance abuse issues and mental health conditions which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment takes part in a variety of treatment activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the severity of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be beneficial for addicted individuals who cannot afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients participate in typical counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health problems which could prevent them from making progress and obtaining gains throughout the treatment process.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must handle both issues if there is any hope for them to recover completely. Some people take drugs to ease symptoms of mental health complications, and some individuals take drugs which then, in turn, creates symptoms which mimic mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Drug treatment professionals know how to differentiate between the two, and can work with clients to properly treat real mental health conditions in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the person. This has proven to be effective in keeping people with mental health disorders off of drugs and mentally stable and healthy.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is offered to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other circumstances such as whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug rehab, and there are many drug rehabilitation centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug rehabilitation programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only deliver such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should research which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full rewards of such a program.
