Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol treatment services which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehabilitation program. An outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehabilitation facility where the individual is required to remain at the rehab program until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug rehabilitation is also available for individuals who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare and relapse prevention program which will provide further support and treatment to help them remain clean and sober.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must address both issues if there is any hope for them to recover completely. Some individuals take drugs or alcohol to alleviate symptoms of mental health disorders, and some people take drugs which then, in turn, brings about symptoms which are identical to mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Addiction treatment professionals know how to distinguish between the two, and can work with clients to correctly treat real mental health problems in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the person. This has proven to be effective in keeping individuals with mental health disorders off of drugs and alcohol and mentally stable and productive.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug treatment centers are an outstanding alternative to other types of treatment centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their substance abuse rehab program. To learn more about self payment programs, contact a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center and inquire as to their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding treatment options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other factors such as whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehab, and there are a lot of drug and alcohol rehab centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug treatment facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only provide such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full benefits of such a program.

Drug addiction and alcoholism affects many older Americans and seniors, and this problem continues to grow as each year passes. Seniors who are covered by Medicare, an insurance program funded through the federal government for Americans in this age bracket, can use their Medicare benefits to receive vital treatment services for drug or alcohol addiction at a variety of substance abuse rehab programs around the country. Medicare covers both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, and seniors who are in need of help can consult with their primary care physician to choose a rehab program covered by Medicare which would be suitable for them.

State Financed Insurance besides Medicaid

Some people are covered through state financed insurance because they do not qualify for Medicaid. Some states however offer affordable health insurance to those who cannot afford private health insurance plans. State financed health insurance programs will in some cases cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a wide variety of drug rehabilitation programs around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both inpatient or outpatient drug rehab providers. To find out which rehabilitation facilities will accept state financed insurance, speak with a substance abuse treatment professional.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

If a person is abusing drugs or alcohol and is looking for help, many effective drug or alcohol rehab facilities accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term rehab facilities accept private health insurance, far more effective drug or alcohol treatment facilities which offer an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These treatment programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those clients who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug rehab facility. For more information, speak with with a treatment professional at a substance abuse treatment facility in your area to see which programs your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol treatment can be a challenge, as all resources have been exhausted because of the persons drug habit. Many drug rehab programs understand this reality which is why many drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs around the country provide payment options known as a sliding scale fee. There are many factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug treatment programs would prefer to find a way to make it work financially so that those suffering with addiction can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many substance abuse treatment centers in the United States offer payment assistance to people struggling with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of rehabilitation can choose a rehabilitation program which is a good fit, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program would offer them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehabilitation program to discuss what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug rehab centers are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the person to locate an equivalent or comparable rehab program which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can get the rehabilitation they so desperately need.
