Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment takes place in a wide range of different treatment settings with a variety of different treatment approaches. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be carried out on an outpatient basis, where the individual will typically receive treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the individual to reside in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is particularly helpful in resolving more severe cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on various circumstances which can be different for each individual. Most substance abuse treatment will focus on getting the individual physically rehabilitated, and then focus on underlying psychological and emotional issues.

Alternative Housing - Transitional Living

A halfway house is a transitional living facility where an individual who is recovering from alcohol or drug addiction can stabilize and re-adjust to life and society as a drug free individual. A halfway house is a place where the person can feel secure and rebuild their life while maintaining sobriety while also participate in activities which will help them do just that. Halfway houses are an ideal opportunity for individuals to be in an atmosphere where they can acquire further counseling and different types of therapy while also learning new trades or obtaining stable employment so that they can support a healthy and productive, drug-free life.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehab programs which are provided on an outpatient basis are available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient treatment facility. An outpatient substance abuse treatment program offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol rehabilitation facility where the individual is required to stay and reside at the rehab facility until the treatment process is complete. Outpatient drug treatment is also available for individuals who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare and relapse prevention program which will provide further support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.

Men Only

Drug rehab facilities made specifically for men are popping up across the country. While rehab facilities that treat both men and women continue to be the standard for drug and alcohol rehabilitation, many facilities are creating programs designed to help a particular target group. These centers are able to focus on what their client's individual needs are in a way that standard facilities cannot provide. Although these specialized types of rehabilitation programs are not necessary for all recovering addicts, many men are selecting men-only drug and alcohol rehab facilities. This treatment option is excellent for those who feel more comfortable with those of the same sex when sharing private and often difficult memories from the past. Addiction recovery is a difficult process for every addict and finding comfort among one's peer group is a very good way of receiving the support needed to make the process that much more endurable.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment substance abuse treatment facilities are a great alternative to other types of rehab centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment programs, contact a drug treatment program and ask about their payment options. It is beneficial to contact a number of facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding rehab options and payment options.
