Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment takes place in a wide variety of distinct treatment settings with a variety of different treatment approaches. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be done on an outpatient basis, where the individual will typically participate in treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the individual to stay in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is especially helpful in handling more severe cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on different circumstances which can be different for each individual. Most substance abuse treatment will concentrate on getting the person physically rehabilitated, and then concentrate on the root psychological and emotional issues which will help them avoid relapse in the future.

A halfway house is a transitional living facility where a person who is trying to recover from drug or alcohol addiction can stabilize and re-adjust to life and society. A halfway house is a place where the person can feel secure and repair their life while maintaining sobriety while also participate in clean and sober, productive activities. Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehabilitation services which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehabilitation facility. An outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation facility delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug treatment program where the person is required to remain at the treatment program until treatment is complete. Outpatient drug rehabilitation is also available for those who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare and relapse prevention program which will provide further support and treatment to help them remain clean and sober.

Women Only

Rehabilitation from drug or alcohol addiction is a process that can be challenging and in manyways intimidating. This is why some women seeking recovery feel more comfortable in rehab facilities created specifically for women. Women who are addicted to drugs or alcohol oftenhave personal issues that are very different than that of males. In a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center where all the clients are women, the recovering addict will feel more at ease and will be able to work through her personal issues that led to her drug abuse and addiction problems. Statistics show that up to seventy percent of drug abusing women report having some type of sexual or physical abuse in their past. These sensitive issues are easier to work through in the company of other women without fear of judgment or retaliation.

Men Only

Drug rehabilitation facilities created solely for men are rising up across the country. Although rehab facilities that treat both men and women are still the standard for drug and alcohol rehabilitation, many rehab centers are creating programs intended to help a specific target group. These centers are able to focus on what their client's personal needs are in a way that standard programs are not. While these specialized types of rehab programs are not necessary for all recovering addicts, many men are choosing men-only addiction treatment facilities. This treatment option is excellent for those who feel more comfortable among others of the same sex when sharing private and often difficult memories from the past. Recovering from addiction is a difficult process for every addict and finding comfort among one's peer group is a very good way of receiving the support needed to make the process that much more endurable.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehab facilities are a great alternative to other types of rehabilitation programs i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire rehabilitation process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol treatment program. In order to learn more about self payment programs, contact a substance abuse rehab facility and ask about their payment options. It is beneficial to contact several facilities so that you have a comparison of your choices regarding rehab options and payment options.

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is made available to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other circumstances including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehab, and there are a lot of drug rehabilitation facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should explore which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many substance abuse rehabilitation centers in the United States provide payment assistance to men and women having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of rehabilitation can choose a treatment facility which is a good fit, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program would provide them the best results. The addicted individual can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehabilitation program to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehab programs are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the individual to locate an equivalent or similar rehabilitation facility which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can get the help they so desperately need.
