Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehab programs which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient treatment program. An outpatient substance abuse rehab program offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehab center where the person is expected to stay and reside at the rehabilitation center until the treatment process is complete. Outpatient drug rehabilitation is also offered for individuals who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare and relapse prevention program which will provide additional support and treatment to help them remain clean and sober.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must address both issues in order to become fully rehabilitated. Some people take drugs or alcohol to alleviate symptoms of mental health problems, and some people take drugs which then, in turn, brings about symptoms which are identical to mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Drug treatment professionals know how to differentiate between the two, and can work with clients to correctly treat real mental health conditions in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the person. This has proven to be effective in keeping individuals with mental health problems off of drugs and mentally stable and healthy.

Criminal Justice Client Programs

Criminal justice clients typically need drug rehabilitation because of their problems with drug or alcohol addiction. Due to the nature of the criminal justice system, there are specific steps and guidelines that must be performed in order to be admitted into a criminal justice drug or alcohol treatment center or recovery program. The initial step is to establish the criminal justice clients eligibility. This step is accomplished by a panel of officials who determine how much and what type of drug or alcohol is necessary. Often, the criminal justice clients receive their drug and alcohol rehabilitation while they are incarcerated. For the best possible results, they are encouraged, if not strictly directed, to continue their recovery once they leave jail and enroll in sober living or a therapeutic community.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug treatment programs are a great alternative to other types of rehabilitation centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. Individuals who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire treatment process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug rehab program. In order to learn more about self payment programs, contact a drug rehabilitation facility and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact a number of programs so that you have a comparison of your choices with regards to rehab options and payment options.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is offered to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other factors including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug treatment, and there are many drug rehab programs throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug treatment programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only provide such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should research which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full benefits of such a program.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol treatment can be a challenge, because typically all resources have been exhausted because of the persons addiction. Many drug treatment programs recognize this reality which is why many drug and alcohol treatment facilities around the country provide payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are many factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol rehab programs would prefer to find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug and alcohol treatment centers in the United States offer payment assistance to people suffering with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of treatment can choose a rehabilitation facility which is a good fit, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program will supply them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol rehab center to discuss what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehab centers are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will often work with the person to locate an equivalent or similar rehab facility which is more affordable or that can provide workable financing options so that they can get the rehabilitation they so desperately need.
