Outpatient Treatment

Drug rehab services which are provided on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehabilitation program. An outpatient substance abuse treatment facility provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehabilitation center where the person is expected to remain at the rehab center until the treatment process has been fully completed. Outpatient drug treatment is also available for those who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare program which will provide further support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.

Native American or Alaska Native Languages

Native Americans and Alaska Natives have much higher rates of substance abuse and addiction than other ethnicities, a circumstance which must be addressed for these cultures to survive. In fact, Native American and Alaska youth have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the country. Though the reasons may vary from person to person, most of the reasons for the high rates of abuse among Native American and Alaska natives are cultural ones. The most obvious obstacles to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for substance abuse and addiction are language and culture differences. This is why it is vital that Native Americans and Alaska Natives receive substance abuse treatment in a drug rehab program that is specifically catered to this ethnic group, but most importantly in one that takes into the account the need to provide treatment in their language.

Other Language Programs

Individuals who speak other languages, other than English that is, should receive substance abuse rehabilitation which is on par with English speakers. Speakers of other languages should not feel that their treatment curriculum or treatment setting is going to be any less effective because they don't speak English. There are many substance abuse rehab facilities available which provide services to those who speak foreign languages, all of which offer a variety of programs to choose from. For example, some substance abuse treatment programs which can treat people who speak other languages are only short term programs, and others are longer term programs. Foreign language speakers can seek the advice from an addiction professional in their area to choose a drug or alcohol treatment facility that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment substance abuse rehabilitation programs are an outstanding alternative to other types of rehabilitation centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. People who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire treatment process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, contact a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several programs so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding treatment options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other circumstances including whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug treatment, and there are many drug rehabilitation centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Many drug treatment facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only provide such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should explore which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full rewards of such a program.
