Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol treatment programs which are delivered on an outpatient basis are available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient treatment facility. An outpatient substance abuse treatment program delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol rehabilitation facility where the individual is required to stay and reside at the rehab center until the treatment process is complete. Outpatient drug treatment is also offered for individuals who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but require a thorough aftercare program which will offer additional support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug rehabilitation programs are a great alternative to other types of rehab facilities i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. People who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug treatment program. In order to learn more about self payment programs, contact a drug treatment facility and inquire as to their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices regarding treatment options and payment options.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is offered to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other circumstances including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug rehabilitation, and there are many drug rehabilitation facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Many drug rehab programs which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should research which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full benefits of such a program.

Medicare Coverage

Drug addiction and alcoholism can effect many older Americans and seniors, and this problem continues to grow as each year passes. Seniors who are covered by Medicare, an insurance program funded through the federal government for Americans in this age bracket, can use their Medicare benefits to receive vital treatment services for addiction at a wide variety of substance abuse rehabilitation programs around the country. Medicare covers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and seniors who are in need of treatment can consult with their primary care physician to choose a treatment program covered by Medicare which would be suitable for them.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug treatment can be a challenge, as all resources have been exhausted due to their drug habit. Many drug rehab facilities understand this fact which is why many drug rehab programs across the nation offer payment options known as a sliding scale fee. There are several variables put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug rehabilitation facilities would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can receive the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many substance abuse rehab facilities in the United States offer payment assistance to individuals having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of rehabilitation can choose a rehab program which is a good fit, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program will provide them the best results. The addicted person can then consult with one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehabilitation center to talk about what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will often work with the individual to locate an equivalent or comparable treatment program which is more affordable or that can provide workable financing options so that they can acquire the rehabilitation they so desperately need.
