  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • In 2009, 1 million Americans had abused crack at least once in the year prior to being surveyed.
  • In 2010 there were 7.0 million individuals in the nation aged 12 or older who used prescription-type psychotherapeutic drugs non-medically in the past month. These estimates were similar to the previous year (7.0 million) and 2002 (6.3 million), showing little or no change with this problem.
  • Researchers have reported that in order for a person to consume enough marijuana to experience a fatal overdose, they would have to consume almost 40,000 times the amount of THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) required to intoxicate them. For example, if it took an individual 10 hits to become intoxicated, it would take 400,000 hits of marijuana to produce a fatal overdose.
  • Crack cocaine is extracted from coke using baking soda and heat, the waxy base of which becomes rocks of cocaine, ready to be sold in vials.
  • Depending on how much hashish has been taken, effects can vary depending on the way it is administered.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug treatment services which are delivered on an outpatient basis are available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient treatment center. An outpatient drug rehab center delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol rehab facility where the individual is required to stay and reside at the rehabilitation program until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug or alcohol rehab is also available for individuals who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare program which will provide additional support and treatment to help them remain clean and sober.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When somebody is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is seeking help, there are many effective drug or alcohol rehabilitation facilities accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more effective drug or alcohol rehab facilities which provide an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These treatment programs which accept private health insurance can differ in terms of treatment curriculum, but those individuals who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. For additional information, consult with a treatment professional at a drug or alcohol treatment center in your area to find out which services your private health insurance will cover.
