Outpatient Treatment

Drug treatment services which are provided on an outpatient basis are available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient rehabilitation program. An outpatient substance abuse treatment program offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehab program where the person is required to remain at the treatment program until the treatment process is complete. Outpatient drug rehabilitation is also available for those who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but require a thorough aftercare and relapse prevention program which will provide further support and therapy to help them remain clean and sober.

Spanish Services

There are more and more Spanish speaking clients walking into substance abuse rehab centers every day needing help. Because Spanish is such a common language in this country, many substance abuse treatment facilities are capable of providing treatment to Spanish speaking people. Additionally, many counselors and therapists make it a point to learn the language so as to be able to provide the treatment and care needed for Spanish speaking people.

Other Language Programs

Individuals who speak other languages, other than English that is, should be able to receive substance abuse rehabilitation which is on par with English speakers. Those who speak other languages should not feel that their treatment opportunities are limited or inferior because they don't speak English. There are many drug and alcohol treatment programs available which cater to those who speak foreign languages, all of which offer a selection of programs to choose from. For example, some substance abuse treatment facilities which can treat individuals who speak other languages are only short term programs, but there are more long term options available. Foreign language speakers can seek the advice from an addiction professional in their area to choose a drug or alcohol treatment program that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehab centers are a great alternative to other types of treatment centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. Individuals who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire rehab process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their substance abuse rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a substance abuse rehabilitation program and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact several facilities so that you have a comparison of your choices regarding treatment options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is offered to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other circumstances such as whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol treatment, and there are many drug rehabilitation programs throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Many drug rehab programs which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full rewards of such a program.

Medicare Coverage

Drug addiction and alcoholism can effect many older Americans and seniors, and this problem continues to grow as each year passes. Seniors who are covered through the Medicare program, an insurance plan funded through the federal government for Americans in this age bracket, can use their Medicare benefits to receive treatment services for addiction at a variety of substance abuse treatment programs around the country. Medicare covers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs, and seniors who wish to receive help can consult with their primary care physician to choose a rehab program covered by Medicare which would fit his or her particular needs.

State Financed Insurance besides Medicaid

Some people are covered through state financed insurance because they do not meet the eligibility requirements for Medicaid. Some states however offer state financed health insurance to those who cannot afford private health insurance plans. State financed health insurance programs will sometimes cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a variety of drug and alcohol rehab centers around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both outpatient or inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation services. To find out which rehabilitation facilities will accept state financed insurance, speak with a drug treatment professional.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is seeking help, many effective drug or alcohol treatment programs accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more effective substance abuse rehab programs which provide an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These treatment programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those people who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug rehab facility. For more information, speak with with a treatment professional at a drug rehab center in your area to see which services your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol rehab can be a problem, because typically all resources have been exhausted because of the persons addiction. Many drug rehab programs understand this reality which is why many drug rehabilitation facilities around the country provide payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are several variables put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol treatment programs would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can receive the help they need.
