Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehab services which are offered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient treatment facility. An outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug treatment program where the person is required to stay and reside at the treatment facility until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug rehab is also offered for those who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a comprehensive aftercare program which will offer further support and treatment to help them avoid relapse.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must address both issues if there is any hope for them to recover completely. Some individuals take drugs or alcohol to alleviate symptoms of mental health disorders, and some people take drugs which then, in turn, brings about symptoms which are identical to mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. Addiction rehabilitation professionals know how to differentiate between the two, and can work with clients to correctly treat real mental health disorders in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the individual. This has proven to be effective in keeping people with mental health issues off of drugs and alcohol and mentally stable and healthy.

Specialized in Hiv/Aids Patients

It is not uncommon for persons with HIV/AIDS to end up in a substance abuse treatment facility receiving help for serious addiction issues. Sometimes people who abuse drugs and alcohol are predisposed to such diseases due to certain circumstances which afflict the drug culture such as sharing dirty needles to inject drugs or becoming involved in risky sexual behavior because of lowered sexual inhibitions caused by drug use. Persons with HIV/AIDS deserve effective treatment just like any otherwise healthy addicted person. Drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers that accept and cater to persons with HIV/AIDS offer specialized care to address any health issues that may come up in the course of treatment. Criminal Justice Client Programs

Criminal justice clients frequently need substance abuse treatment because of their problems with addiction. Due to the nature of the criminal justice system, there are specific steps and guidelines that must be performed in order to be admitted into a criminal justice substance abuse rehabilitation facility or recovery program. The initial step is to establish the criminal justice clients eligibility. This step is completed by a panel of officials who decide how much and what type of drug is necessary. Sometimes, the criminal justice clients obtain their substance abuse treatment while they are incarcerated. For optimum results, they are encouraged, if not strictly directed, to continue their recovery process once they leave jail and enroll in a sober living home or a therapeutic community.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol treatment programs are a great alternative to other types of rehabilitation centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehabilitation process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. In order to learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a substance abuse treatment program and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact a number of facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices with regards to treatment options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is made available to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other circumstances including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug treatment, and there are many drug rehab centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug and alcohol treatment facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only provide such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full rewards of such a program.

State financed health insurance programs will in some cases cover the costs associated with substance abuse treatment at a wide variety of drug rehab centers around the country. State financed insurance other than Medicaid may cover both outpatient or inpatient substance abuse treatment services. To find out which rehabilitation programs will accept state financed insurance, consult a drug and alcohol treatment advisor.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

If someone is abusing drugs or alcohol and is looking for help, many effective drug treatment programs accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more beneficial substance abuse rehab centers which offer an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those clients who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to attending a drug rehab facility. For more information, consult with an addiction specialist at a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center in your area to see which services your private health insurance will cover.
