Hospital Inpatient Programs

Hospital inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation is done in a hospital setting and is overseen by doctors and other medical staff. Hospital inpatient treatment is sometimes necessary in the beginning stages of abstinence when the person may encounter the onset of medically dangerous withdrawal symptoms, which is sometimes the case when quitting alcohol as well as a category of prescription drugs known as benzodiazepines which should be monitored very carefully by medical professionals to minimize ant dangerous health complications. Hospital inpatient treatment is also administered to individuals who choose to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, as is the case with opiate addicted individuals who wish to use this type of detox approach to manage the severe withdrawal symptoms associated with heroin or other opiate withdrawal. This type of opiate detoxification is not treatment in itself however, and these individuals will require further counseling and therapy to entirely recover from addiction.

Criminal Justice Client Programs

Criminal justice clients frequently need drug or alcohol treatment due to problems with drug and alcohol abuse. Due to the nature of the criminal justice system, there are specific steps and guidelines that must be performed in order to be admitted into a criminal justice substance abuse rehab program or recovery program. The initial step is to establish the criminal justice clients eligibility. This step is completed by a panel of officials who decide how much and what type of drug is necessary. Often, the criminal justice clients obtain their drug treatment while they are incarcerated. For the best possible results, they are encouraged, if not strictly directed, to continue their recovery once they leave jail and enroll in a sober living home or a long-term residential transitional living program.

Other Language Programs

Those who speak other languages, other than English that is, should receive substance abuse rehabilitation which is on par with English speakers. Those who speak other languages should not feel that their treatment opportunities are limited or inferior because they don't speak English. There are quite a few drug and alcohol rehab facilities available which cater to those who speak foreign languages, all of which provide various programs to choose from. For example, some drug rehab facilities which cater to those who speak other languages are only short term programs, but there are more long term options available. Foreign language speakers should consult with an addiction professional in their area to choose a drug treatment program that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are an outstanding alternative to other types of rehabilitation facilities i.e. private medical insurance and state funded programs. People who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehabilitation process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their substance abuse rehab program. To learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a drug rehabilitation program and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact a number of facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices with regards to rehab options and payment methods.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When a person is abusing drugs or alcohol and is seeking help, many effective drug or alcohol rehabilitation programs accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term rehab facilities accept private health insurance, far more beneficial substance abuse treatment centers which require an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those people who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug rehabilitation facility. For more information, consult with an addiction specialist at a substance abuse rehabilitation program in your area to find out which services your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol treatment can be a challenge, as all resources have been exhausted due to the persons drug habit. Many drug treatment programs fully grasp this fact which is why many drug and alcohol rehab facilities around the country provide payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are many variables put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol rehab facilities would prefer to find a way to make it work financially so that those suffering with addiction can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many substance abuse rehab programs in the United States offer payment assistance to individuals having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The individual in need of treatment can choose a rehabilitation facility which is a good fit, meaning the treatment plan and design of the program will supply them the best results. The addicted person can then consult with one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol rehabilitation facility to talk about what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug treatment programs are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the individual to find an equivalent or comparable rehab facility which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can receive the help they so desperately need.
