  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • According to a 2010 Reuters Health report, a larger number of Americans than ever have landed in the hospital due to drug overdoses related to powerful prescription painkillers, sedatives, tranquilizers, and sleep medications.
  • If someone who is dependent to Vicodin stops taking the drug abruptly, either because they decided to quit or through no control of their own, they begin to experience Vicodin withdrawal.
  • Alcoholics are often unable to absorb vitamin B-1 which may cause what is known as "Wernickes Encephalopathy" which is characterized by impaired memory, confusion and lack of coordination.
  • While a large percentage of people who have had a drug overdose have been reported to recover without experiencing any long term health effects, many of these cases have resulted in death.
  • About 90 percent of alcoholics are likely to experience at least one relapse within 4 years of receiving treatment.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehabilitation services which are provided on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient rehab facility. An outpatient substance abuse treatment program delivers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug treatment program where the person is required to stay and reside at the treatment facility until treatment is complete. Outpatient drug or alcohol rehab is also available for those who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare and relapse prevention program which will offer further support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.
